Developments on earth

The woman in the sky

Rev12,1 A great sign appeared in the sky: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars; 12,2 and she was pregnant and she cried out, being in labor and in pain to give birth. Rev 12,1-2;

The birth of the Son of God – the prophecy

Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him [l]Immanuel.
(Isa 7,14)

The fulfillment

And behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

Lk 1,26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee named Nazareth, 1,27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. 1,28 And coming in, he said to her, "Greetings, favored one! The Lord]is with you." 1,29 But she was very perplexed at this statement, and was pondering what kind of greeting this was. 1,30 And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 1,31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and give birth to a son, and you shall name Him Jesus." Lk 1,26-31;

The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; for that reason also the holy Child will be called the Son of God.

Lk 1,32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; 1,33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end." 1,34 But Mary said to the angel, "How will this be, since I am a virgin?" 1,35 The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; for that reason also the holy Child will be called the Son of God.1, 36 And behold, even your relative Elizabeth herself has conceived a son in her old age, and]she who was called infertile is now in her sixth month. 1,37 For nothing will be impossible with God." 1,38 And Mary said, "Behold, the Lord’s bond-servant; may it be done to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her. Lk 1,32-38;

Israel – from the Mosaic wife of God to the godless harlot

Israel, the wife of God

 I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, In favor and in compassion.

Hos 2,19 I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, In favor and in compassion, 2,20 And I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then you will know the Lord. Hos 2,19-20;

In that day," declares the Lord, "you will call me ‘my husband’.

Hos 2,16 "In that day," declares the Lord, "you will call me ‘my husband’; you will no longer call me ‘my master.’ 2,17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips; no longer will their names be invoked. 2,18 In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety. Hos 2,16–19;

The “woman clothed with the sun” is a symbol of Israel, as also evidenced by the “crown of twelve stars”, that is to say, the twelve tribes of Israel. Israel is the “wife” of God, the Almighty. He has betrothed himself to her for eternity and she has “known” him when through the Holy Spirit he begot on her his Son, the Messiah of Israel, our Lord Jesus Christ.

So when Israel “knew” her husband, the human woman Mary was the “receiving organ” for the divine seed. As it appears, the bodily mother of the Lord was probably aware of her privileged position; the same however was not true of the symbolic wife of God, Israel and the Israelites – many of whom did not recognize the Son of God at all and saw him as a political opponent who had to be stopped.

Israel, the harlot

For their mother has committed prostitution; She who conceived them has acted harmefully. For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, Who give me my bread and my water, My wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’

Hos 2,2 "Dispute with your mother, dispute, Because she is not my wife, and I am not her husband; But she must remove her infidelity from her face And her adultery from between her breasts, 2,3 Otherwise, I will strip her naked And expose her as on the day she was born. I will also make her like a wilderness, Make her like desert land, And put her to death with thirst. 2,4 Also, I will take no pity on her children, Because they are children of infidelity. 2,5 For their mother has committed prostitution; She who conceived them has acted hamefully. For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, Who give me my bread and my water, My wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’ Hos 2,2–5;

For more than two thousand years, and continuing until the beginning of the Millennium, Israel has been the harlot who commits fornication behind the back of her sworn first husband, our God – back then with the kings of the earth (e.g. Rome – Herodes / Marcus Antonius), today with the leaders of godless nations such as the USA or Germany. They place themselves under the protection of a great power and operate their deceptions in secret. The children of Israel – the Jewish people from then until today and further on until the Millennium – are a harlot’s children and God will not have mercy on any of these billions of people.

Therefore, behold, I will obstruct her way with thorns, And I will build a stone wall against her so that she cannot find her paths.

Hos 2,6 Therefore, behold, I will obstruct her way with thorns, And I will build a stone wall against her so that she cannot find her paths. 2,7 And she will pursue her lovers, but she will not reach them; And she will seek them, but will not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my first husband, Because it was better for me then than now!’ 2,8 "Yet she does not know that it was I myself who gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, And lavished on her silver and gold, Which they used for Baal. 2,9 Therefore, I will take back My grain at harvest time And My new wine in its season. I will also take away My wool and My flax That I gave to cover her nakedness. 2,10 So now I will uncover her lewdness Before the eyes of her lovers, And no one will rescue her from My hand. 2,11 I will also put an end to all her joy, Her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, And all her festivals.

2,12 And I will destroy her vines and fig trees, Of which she said, ‘They are my wages for prostitution Which my lovers have given me.’ And I will turn them into a forest, And the animals of the field will devour them. 2,13 I will punish her for the days of the Baals When she used to offer sacrifices to them And adorn herself with her nose ring and jewelry, And follow her lovers, so that she forgot Me," declares the Lord. Hos 2,6-13;

Israel commits prostitution with the godless nations of all times, which is why God has “built a stone wall against her” and given her a covering before her face, so that she would not find her way (Hos 2:6). To this day, when Moses is read, the covering veil is upon her heart (2Cor 3:15). The Israelites’ minds have been hardened, for to this day when the old covenant is read, the same covering remains uncovered, which is removed only in Christ (2Cor 4:14). The Gentile Pontius Pilate recognized it at that time, the high priest Caiaphas did not.

Because of her apostasy from God and her fornication with her lovers, they did not recognize their Messiah when he came to set up the kingdom with them, but condemned him to death as an “impostor and blasphemer” and handed him over to the Romans to be crucified.

"My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;

Mt 27,45 Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. 27,46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema sabaktanei?" that is,"My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" 27,47 And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, said, "This man is calling for Elijah."27, 48 And immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink. 27,49 But the rest of them said, "Let us see if Elijah comes to save Him." 27,50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and gave up His spirit. 27,51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. Mt 27,45-51;

On the death of the Son of God the veil of the temple, which separated the “holiest”, where the worshippers stood, from the “holy of holies”, where God had dwelt with the Israelites for centuries above the ark of the covenant, was torn in two from top to bottom. This was the outward sign that God had abandoned the temple and Israel and dissolved the covenant with them. It follows that for the last two thousand years Israel has been God-less.

«Behold, your house is being left to you desolate, until you say, ‘Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!’»

Mt 23,32 Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers.33 You snakes, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the sentence of hell? 23,34 "Therefore, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city, 23,35 so that upon you will fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

23,36 Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. 23,37 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling. 23,38 Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! 23,39 For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!’" Mt 23,32-39;

In the Millennium, the millennial kingdom of peace of our Lord Jesus Christ, when Israel will return to the Lord, the veil will be removed from her face (2Cor. 3:16) and they will recognize their Savior, the Son of God, and greet Him with the words “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”

Then Israel will come to faith in Jesus Christ and thus return to her God, and our God will forgive the then living Israelites for the ungodliness of their fathers, will make his promise come true and take Israel again to be his wife.

Israel – the mother of all Christian believers in the Millennium

And in the place Where it is said to them, "You are not My people," It will be said to them, "You are the sons of the living God.

Hos 1,10 Yet the number of the sons of Israel Will be like the sand of the sea, Which cannot be measured or counted; And in the place Where it is said to them, "You are not My people," It will be said to them, "You are the sons of the living God." 1,11 And the sons of Judah and the sons of Israel will be gathered together, And they will appoint for themselves one leader, And they will go up from the land, For the day of Jezreel will be great. 2,1 Say to your brothers, "Amm [My people]," and to your sisters, "Ruhamah [Pardoned ones]." Hos 1,10-2,1;

Israel and Judah, the hostile tribes, will unite into one nation. As the head of the new Israel, God will resurrect their king David for them. But not only Israel will be forgiven for the ungodliness of its fathers, the ungodliness of the fathers of the other peoples of this world will be forgiven by God likewise, when the non-Israelites then living turn to Christ. All people who confess Jesus Christ and the God of Israel, and come to Israel to worship in the temple, will thereby also become Israelites. They will all then be Israel.

Their number “will be like the sand of the sea” and they will all settle around Jerusalem to be close to their God who will again dwell in the temple. This is also how it is to be understood that Jerusalem must be inhabited without walls (Zech 2:8) because the people are so great and the city will be too small. And the land of Israel will become great, from Mesopotamia to the sea. It must also be taken into account that due to the people’s living longer (up to a thousand years, as before the Flood), in the Millennium the population growth will also contribute to their being in number “like the sand of the sea”.

(See also Chapter 10: "The Millennium." )

"That describes in a nutshell developments on earth up to the Millennial Kingdom. But now we come back to the time when our Lord Jesus Christ still lived on earth and told his apostles about an upcoming event in heaven, which affected heaven and earth, but which – up to this day – is hardly known to the world.

Developments in heaven

The war in heaven.

Rev 12,7 And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, 12,8 and they did not prevail, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven.

Jn 12,31 «Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out» (from heaven).

Jn 14,30 «I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me»;

Blitz

Rev 12,9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Lk 10,18 And He (Jesus) said to them, «I saw Satan fall  like lightning from heaven.»

Rev 12,12 «For this reason, rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you with great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.»

Lk 4,5 And the devil led Him (Jesus) up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 4,6 And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this domain and its glory, for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I want. 4,7 Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours."

And his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven and hurled them to the earth.

Rev 12,3 Then another sign appeared in the sky: and behold, a great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven crowns. 12,4 And his tail swept away a third of the stars of heaven and hurled them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her Child. Rev 12,3-4;

He will convict the world concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Jn 16,7 "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 16,8 "And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; 16,9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 16,10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me; 16,11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. Jn 16,7-11;

At that very time, two thousand years ago, Satan, the “dragon,” seduced the angelic world in order to seize power in heaven. One third of all God’s angels chose Satan the tempter, and thus chose against God. At that time, there was a battle in heaven in which Satan and his angels fought against the remaining two-thirds of God’s created angels under the leadership of the archangel Michael and lost. Satan, the “dragon”, was thrown down to earth with his angels, where they continue to exist in the atmosphere to this day – invisible to people as spirit beings.

The child, the Son of God

The biblical fact that this battle in heaven took place during the lifetime of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that Satan was thrown down to earth at that time, can be taken from several statements in the Bible:

How you have fallen from heaven, You star of the morning, (Satan).

Isa 14,12 How you have fallen from heaven, You star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who defeated the nations! Isa 14,12;

Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. (from heaven).

Jn 12,28 Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came out of heaven: "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again." 12,29 So the crowd who stood by and heard it were saying that it had thundered; others were saying, "An angel has spoken to Him!" 12,30 Jesus responded and said, "This voice has not come for My sake, but for yours. 12,31 Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. Jn 12,28-31;

I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler (!!) of the world is coming.

Jn 14,28 You heard that I said to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 14,29 And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. 14,30 I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in regard to Me, 14,31 but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let’s go from here. Jn 14,28-31;

And He (the Helper – the Holy Spirit), when He comes, will convict the world regarding judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

Jn 16,7 But I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I am leaving; for if I do not leave, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. 16,8 And He, when He comes, will convict the world regarding sin, and righteousness, and judgment: 16,9 regarding sin, because they do not believe in Me; 16,10 and regarding righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you no longer are going to see Me; 16,11and regarding judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. Jn 16,7-11;

(See also Excursus 06: "From the face of God into the lake of fire – the four stages of Satan.")

And the information that Satan and his angels exist in the airspace of this world until today, and Satan (“the god of this world” 2Cor 4,4) was given power over the kingdoms of this world by God, can be found first of all in Luke – where Satan tempts the Son of God in the wilderness and offers him all the kingdoms of this world, which have been handed over to him, if he would only worship him (Satan):

«I will give You all this domain and its glory, for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I want.»

Lk 4,5 And he led Him up and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 4,6 And the devil said to Him, "I will give You all this domain and its glory, for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I want. 4,7 Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours." 4,8 Jesus replied to him, "It is written (Deut 6,13): ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’" Lk 4, 5- 8;

And on the other hand, we have confirmation from the apostle Paul that at that time Satan is already the “god” of this world and rules in the air:

The prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

Eph 2,1 And you were dead in your offenses and sins, 2,2 in which you previously walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Eph 2,1-2;

The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving.

2Cor 4,3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4,4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they will not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2Cor 4,3-4;

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Eph 6,12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Eph 6,12;

It looks as if God has destined Satan, from a certain point in the development of this angel, to be the agent of temptations – to give both the angelic world and mankind, from Adam and Eve until the last day, the opportunity to use their God-given freedom of will to decide for or against God. Satan is thus supposed to separate the “chaff from the wheat”. And it was precisely for this purpose that God also gave him dominion over “all the kingdoms of the world” two thousand years ago.

So when our Lord Jesus Christ, at the beginning of his missionary activity here on earth, had fasted 40 days in the desert and was hungry, the “god of this world” consistently and at once seized this opportunity to seduce his greatest adversary, the Son of God, and to offer him “all the kingdoms of the world, all this domain and its glory”, under the condition that he would worship him, the devil.

I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.

Lk 4,5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 4,6 And he said to him, ‘I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 4,7 If you worship me, it will all be yours.’ 4,8 Jesus answered, ‘It is written (Deut 6.13): "Worship the Lord your God and serve him only."’ Lk 4,5-8;

If the owner of the house (Satan) had known at what time of night the thief (Jesus) was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house (the world) be broken into.

Mt 24,42 ‘Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 24,43 But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 24,44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.’ Mt 24,42-44;

(See also Discourse 1042: "Are all governments of the world ordained by God?")

Satan rules the world.

But another consequence of this text, to which many interpreters “turn a blind eye”, must not be overlooked. When Satan points out here that all power over the kingdoms of this world has been “handed over” to him (which can only mean handed over by God), the Son of God shows no doubt of the fact whatsoever. As with the devil’s other temptations, the Lord only quotes at him the corresponding biblical commandment: “You shall worship the Lord your God and serve him alone.” If the devil had lied here – which of course is actually his profession – the Son of God would certainly have known, and would have contradicted him.

If one analyzes these and other biblical passages and tries to discern an overall picture, the following events seem quite plausible: God created Satan at the beginning of creation as a “guardian cherub”, as the “crown” of his creation, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. He was to be given all power in heaven and on earth as the most powerful among the sons of God. The “king of Tyre”, in Eze 28,11-19, is a synonym for Satan.

This is what the Sovereign Lord says: "You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty".

Eze 28,11 The word of the Lord came to me: 28,12 ‘Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: This is what the Sovereign Lord says:’ "You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 28,13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone adorned you: carnelian, chrysolite and emerald, topaz, onyx and jasper, lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared. 28,14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub, for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God; you walked among the fiery stones. 28,15 You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you.

28,16 Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence, and you sinned. So, I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God, and I expelled you, guardian cherub, from among the fiery stones. 28,17 Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So, I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings. 28,18 By your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries. So, I made a fire come out from you, and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. 28,19 All the nations who knew you are appalled at you; you have come to a horrible end and will be no more." Eze 28,11-19;

But as it says in verse 17: "Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor." Here one is probably not wrong in the assumption that Satan, because of his outstanding qualities in all areas, was overcome by megalomania, and thought that power in heaven and on earth should be his at once.

And although only one third of the angels of heaven stood behind him, in his obsession with power he dared embark on the completely hopeless fight against the twice as strong armies of God under the archangel Michael – and lost, as was to be expected. Now, thrown down to earth with his angels, he tries to save what can be saved, aiming at least to achieve dominion over the world. But God is just in all his deeds, and therefore mankind must be able to decide for itself by whom it wants to be governed.

And this is where the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ, comes into play. In him, God offers mankind as ruler over this world the human being whom God himself has begotten on a human woman – one who was born as a human being and, like every child of God among men, also has the Father dwelling in his spirit. He let himself be crucified as a sacrifice pleasing to God, for the reconciliation of God with mankind.

Satan, on the other hand, was created directly by God as a cherub and was never a man. Jesus Christ is therefore begotten – God from God – and not created. And he is also the heir: on the one hand the “genetic” heir, with the justice, mercy and truthfulness of the Father, but also the royal heir, to whom ultimately all power in heaven and on earth will be handed over by the Father (Mt 28:18).

And actually, this is the only way to explain that God has indeed handed over all the kingdoms of this world to Satan. Satan will try in his own way, with cunning and force, to achieve world domination. But in the same way as he tried it in heaven, with the angels, he will also try to tempt people on earth, and there will be quite a few who will succumb to his temptations of power, fame and wealth and go to damnation.

(See also Chapter 11: "The Last Fight " )

With this, however, it is clear that this world has been ruled by the devil for two thousand years. As we can see from these biblical texts, it is he who selects and sets up the governments of the nations as a “gray eminence” in the background. Since the Roman Empire, all rulers – whether emperors, kings, popes, dictators, and even democratically elected statesmen and women – have been controlled and influenced by the devil. Otherwise world history to date would be inexplicable.

It may be that some of these people were able to escape the influence of Satan, but if so, they certainly did not stay in powerful positions for long. And if we look at the world history of the last two thousand years – from the Emperor Nero through the dark Middle Ages to Hitler, Hiroshima and Nagasaki – we can see that this biblical truth in all its tragedy has indeed been realized.

In the end, Satan will lead large parts of the human world into damnation just as he deceived and led a third of the angelic world into ruin. And it is to be feared that in the human world – in contrast to the angelic world – much less than two thirds will escape the clutches of the devil. The Bible speaks of about four billion people who will be killed by the judgments of God on the day of his wrath alone (Rev 6:7-8; Rev 9:15).

(See also Discourse 65: "The two men in the field (Mt 24,40): who will be taken, and who will be left?" )

(See also Chapter 05: "The Day of the Lord." )

So this is the biblical reality about Satan and the angels of God. And as we have seen above, it all started with the battle in heaven two thousand years ago, when the Son of God was still living on earth (Rev 12:7-9). It was he who said then:

Jn 14,30 "I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me".

and

Lk 10,18 He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

And as we have seen above, some biblical prophecies do also point to this unique event in heaven (Isa 14:12; Rev 12:12). Satan will then rule the whole world for a short time in the Last Days, with the Antichrist and his false prophet. In the battle of Armageddon, the Antichrist and the false prophet with their earthly armies will be defeated by the Son of God and his heavenly army, and thrown into the lake of fire.

(See also Discourse 86: "The First and the Second Antichrist." )

(See also Chapter 07: "The Battle of Harmagedon." )

Satan himself will be kept bound in the abyss for the following millennium and will be released again for a short time after the thousand years. Then he will again deceive the remnant of the godless people and move with them to Jerusalem, to make a last attempt to seize power there. But he will lose this battle as well and will be thrown into the lake of fire with all the many people who were on his side.

(See also Chapter 10: "The Millennium." )

  – So much for this short sketch of heavenly history.

For someone who has had little or no contact with the Bible in the past, this all sounds very fantastic, of course, and as a realist one has a hard time accepting it. And here we come now to the crucial point: if you don’t feel a bit of curiosity to at least investigate these statements, you should really leave it alone and just walk away.

However, if you feel even the slightest curiosity to check these statements against the Bible, then you should follow that feeling. If you then find out that it is all just a pack of lies, then you avoid a bad conscience in future based on the uneasy feeling that there might be something to it after all. If on the other hand it is correct, then you have satisfied your curiosity and can still decide whether you want to go on or not.

And this is exactly what I would like to point out here. People must retain their curiosity and – especially, when we have to do with such important matters – follow things up at least once. I don’t buy a pig in a poke either, believe you me. Among other things, I worked as an analyst in information technology and have been getting to the bottom of these biblical reports for 50 years. And I have come to recognize more and more the connections and the way these statements relate to reality.

Please also remember that there is a lot at stake! The stakes are incredibly high: your eternal life! Not the fact that you will live forever, because that is as certain as that you will have to end your earthly life one day. Your physical body dies, but your spirit lives on. It is the "cloud" in which your whole life is stored and can be called up at any time. In your life on earth, you do not decide whether you will live eternally, but where you will live eternally.

Either in a Creation 2.0 with a new universe and a new earth, together with God Almighty or, far from God, in the so-called lake of fire. The lake of fire is roughly comparable to the magma core in the innermost part of our planet. You will not burn there, because your non-material spirit has eternal life. But it will not be very pleasant – and to think that it goes on for all eternity!

The eternal existence of every human being.

The eternal existence of every human being.

Every individual human being who leaves the amniotic sac of his or her mother alive in being physically born – who is "born of water" (amniotic fluid), that is to say (Jn 3:5) – receives a human spirit (1Cor 2:11) from God (Jn 4:24) with eternal existence (Mt 25:46). In the first, temporal and earthly part of their existence – in their life, human beings have the possibility of deciding, in complete freedom, without any compulsion and with the help of the spirit given them by God (Gen 2:7; 6:3), whether or not they will give this God, the creator of all life, their complete trust and entire love.

After death, the human body returns to the dust from which it was made (Gen 2:7), but their spirit goes to the Kingdom of the Dead (Dan 12:2; 1Pet 3:18-19; 1Cor 15:23-24), where they pass the time until their resurrection in a state resembling sleep (1Thess 4:15-16).

God will give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Rom 8,11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.. Rom 8,11;

In the Resurrection (Rom 6:4-5), the "rebirth from the spirit" (Mt 19:28; 1Pet 3:18; Jn 3:7), human beings are again given a body (Mt 22:30; Jn 3:8; Rom 8:10-11), similar to that of the Son of God after his resurrection (Jn 20:26-27).

If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

1Cor 15,42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; 15,43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 15,44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 15,45 So also it is written, "The first MAN, Adam, became a living soul." (Gen 2,7) The last Adam became a life‒giving spirit. 15,46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 15,46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 15,47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven. 15,48 As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. 15,49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly. 1Cor 15,42-49;

With this spiritual body the human being will then stand at the Last Judgment before the Son of God, who has been given the task by God (Jn 5:22, 26-27) of judging every human being on the basis of their earthly deeds and their decision for or against God while still alive (Rom 2:16).

Anyone who has decided for God and faith in his Son Jesus Christ in the course of his or her life (Jn 17:3) has the possibility of invoking before this court the expiatory death of the Son of God as a vicarious sacrifice for the sins of all humanity, and so atoning for his or her own sins and derelictions against the law of God (Jn 3:16), and so will meet with the mercy of God (Jn 5:24). Those people who have not accepted this faith cannot have their sins forgiven them, and so they will be condemned (Jn 3:36).

After the Last Judgment these condemned persons will spend their eternal existence in the darkness (Mt 22:13) of the damnation of the eternal fire (Mt 18:8), with weeping and gnashing of teeth (Mt 13:49-50) over the fact that they refused or did not find it important to come to faith while they were alive and have now come to realize that they can never again make up for it, and so cannot ever expect any further change in their condition.

Those who have been forgiven, on the other hand, will spend their eternal life (Mt 25:46) in the New Creation in the light of God on a new earth (Rev 20:11) and under a new sky created by God (Rev 21:1-3,5).

The Son of God said:

"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you." Jn 14,15-17;

Jesus said: "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die." Jn 11,25-26;

In the light of this, the well known evangelist and preacher Wilhelm Busch said to his hearers, "You don’t need to accept the message I am giving you. You can choose not to convert to Jesus. But just be aware that this means you are choosing hell! You have complete freedom – it’s your choice!" (People who are unable to believe)

For all those who would like to have it short and modern:
The spirit of man is the "software" – the operating system – which works the "hardware" – the body. At runtime end of the hardware, the software is stored in the cloud. At the end of the world, the software will receive a new hardware with unlimited running time.

What we have to believe?

Now there are some people who think that this is all very well, but “You have to believe it”. – Yes, right! But I will tell you what things you actually already believe – you probably wouldn’t have thought it possible: science tells us there is no God as creator, everything has been made by “nature”.

– The human brain is a living biomass, the computer a dead collection of copper and plastic. To compare the two would be like comparing a living dog with a life-size ceramic dog, such as you often see in stores. – A complete imbecility!

There is no such thing as “artificial intelligence”, either, because intelligence – of whatever kind – presupposes spirit. And with all skills, which the computer has and will get even further, it will certainly never possess spirit. A computer is a “table search device”, one that works at extremely high speed.

All this these great things has been thought up by nature? Not to mention our planet, the solar system, the galaxy, the universe, the big bang… nature came up with all that? Unbelievable, or what? Why has nature not yet received a Nobel Prize?

Scientists of course would have the necessary curiosity. As a result, they have certainly acquired enormous amounts of knowledge. But it seems only a few of them have emptied the “glass” completely!

"The first sip from the glass of science makes you an atheist, but God waits for you at the bottom of the glass."

(Werner Heisenberg)

Werner Heisenberg was one of the most important physicists of the 20th century. In 1932, he received the Nobel Prize for founding quantum mechanics. His curiosity turned physics upside down. After him, nothing in physics was the same as it had been before. Let us take him as an example. Until the discovery of quantum physics, people in classical physics thought they had already explored everything. Today one thinks the same in the humanities.

In fact, one has no idea about the actual origin and future of mankind, because one has forbidden the only available source of information, the Bible, at times and then discredited it later so that almost nobody finds it worth the trouble to deal with its contents and statements. As a result, billions of people have grown up and died godless over the millennia.

Later the sciences have always tried to let the Bible appear as a "fairy tale book" and "fantasy literature", because otherwise they had to admit to be responsible to a creator God. They have invented atomic bombs, poison gas and pathogens, but they have not recognized the eternal life of every human being and have always called it a pious illusion.

The Bible is the only literature that tells us the truth about ourselves and our future. But only if we really study it and not just skim over it.

Why should the curiosity that catapulted mankind from being potato farmers to becoming atomic physicists not be equally capable of turning a godless person into a convinced Christian?
